About
Preparing for an Upcoming Media Art Project
I’m in the middle of an exploratory phase, experimenting with ideas and testing different approaches for my first major media art project. My fascination spans from the pioneering works of figures like Pippiloti Rist, Julio Le Parc, and James Turrell. I’m also drawn to what’s on the cutting edge—coding, AI, interactive design—and how these elements can open up new creative paths.
Process and Approach
Nearly every day, I make notes, browse online galleries, or simply go for a walk, on the lookout for shapes, colors, and movements that spark fresh ideas. I’m especially interested in how technology can intersect with the human body—how light, space, and motion trigger a sense of wonder. AI seems particularly exciting, offering a way to challenge routine thinking and uncover unexpected possibilities.
Artistic Reasoning and Subject Matter
I’ve always been captivated by the randomness we see in nature and the elegance of mathematics. Drawing from my background in software engineering, business, and traditional art (like fusain and watercolor), I enjoy reimagining technology in playful, hands-on ways. The goal is to inspire curiosity and participation, so people feel immersed in something that evolves and responds.
Connection to Art History
This next project I’m developing takes its cue from a long trajectory in art—early panoramas to the innovative spirit of multimedia pioneers. Each era shows how artists embraced the technologies of their time to push boundaries, and I hope to do something similar with today’s digital tools.
Inspirations and Influences
I look up to artists like Jeffrey Shaw, Jenny Holzer, and Carlos Cruz-Diez for their immersive, thought-provoking installations. Their approaches encourage me to experiment with light, mechanical components, robotics, and expanded cinema techniques. I like mixing the familiar with the futuristic to offer my perspective, one that feels rooted yet open to new possibilities.
Where It’s Headed
This next project is a natural step in these explorations, aiming to merge storytelling with cutting-edge methods. I hope to create an experience that invites viewers to step inside and become part of the creative process, all while questioning how technology shapes our sense of presence and wonder.
